"Pole bean with a strong twining tendency. Solid red vines, dark green leaves. Dark pink flowers. Green pods have a fine purple blush from a young age and yellow as they mature. Round, slightly curved pods have a medium beak. Mature pods average 5" long by 0.4" wide. Standard productivity. Suture string present. Shattering dry pods have a purple blush and average 6-8 seeds per pod. Very good snap bean. Also good as a shelling bean with a nutty flavor. Dry beans have good flavor with a smooth, creamy texture. Small, very dark dry beans. Mid-season maturing. This variety was donated to SSE by Donald Arledge of Alabama, who got it from his cousin, Dusty Ellison. Ellison received the variety from another cousin named Bum Ellison. They say it has been grown by the family of Bum Ellison's wife for at least three generations. SSE Accession # 105707"
